Project Manager as an Entrepreneur
Chris DelGardo, IT Project Manager, Weatherford International
Information and Registration
The PMBOK has clear definitions for both operations and project management. The difference between these two leads many in our project management community to draw a clear distinction between the types of people who might make good project managers vs. good operations managers. For instance, those who thrive in predictable, broad-focused, continuous improvement environments may lean into operations roles, while those with a propensity for unique, objective-focused, defined-end-state environments might succeed in the project roles. Project Managers who have an entrepreneurial mindset bridge many of the gaps between operations and projects and have statistically demonstrated a higher success rate than many of their purely project-focused counterparts.
Learning Objectives:
1. Introduce you to the particular skills of these entrepreneurial project managers
2. Provide some guidelines for the PMO to enhance these skills in the organization
3. Show you how to recruit these entrepreneurial types into your team |

Energy & eCommerce: How to Adapt to Online Trends
Jamie Efurd, Marketing Director, CARBO
Information and Registration
As consumers, we've recognized the ongoing growth and power of digital and online sales in our everyday lives...and Amazon shows us this every day. We have become more independent in price comparisons, product reviews and have paired this with higher expectations in order fulfillment and delivery times. As business players in the energy industry, we shouldn't expect that these trends and buying behaviors will not expand further into our industry. This presentation will cover trends in eCommerce, the importance of thinking about eCommerce for your organization and how, through a case example, the implementation of eCommerce can not only lead to breakthroughs in your organization but in your career too.
The purpose of this presentation is to kickstart your thinking about eCommerce (if you haven’t already!) and begin to think how your organization may be able to incorporate to address changing buying behaviors...and by doing so, can breakthrough the norms and gain experience in areas that exceed your “marketing” role. |
