  • This session will discuss the latest offerings from the IIA Environmental, Health & Safety Audit Center and with a preview of thought leadership planned for 2020. The recently released report On Risk 2020 will be discussed with an emphasis on the Sustainability data obtained during the survey process.

Engaging Company Management on the HSE Audit Value Proposition
  • The goal of the presentation is to engage management on the general cultural view and response to findings and the value of a management supported audit program.  The approach is on changing company culture on how we perceive efforts intended for continuous improvements within our organization.

General Environmental and Safety Regulatory Update and Roundtable Discussions:  A Fireside Chat
  • Tim Wilkins discusses recent activity in important Texas and national EHS regulations and court action. With an eye towards “what it means to you and me” with plenty of interactive discussion, this session has been a perennial favorite of EHS auditors at prior EHSAC meetings.

Current Trends in EPA Region 6 Enforcement
  • During this session you’ll hear about USEPA’s and Region 6 priorities, as well as how the agency’s enforcement and compliance assurance activities support those priorities. A prior presenter at the Houston Chapter’s EHSAC meeting, Mr. Gilrein held a very interactive session and took plenty of time to address attendees’ questions.

EH&S Auditing: Where Do You Fit in the 3 Lines of Defense?
  • Where do YOU fit in the three lines of defense?  Well it depends.  If you’re Operational Management, you own and manage EH&S risks (i.e., spills, incidents, releases, etc.).  If you’re Risk Management or Compliance, you need to support the first line of defense by assessing and monitoring EH&S risks.  If you’re Internal Audit, you need to coordinate with the second line of defense by ensuring EH&S risks are being monitored and reported to the highest level of the organization.  Every line is needed.  Find out where YOU fit in the three lines of defense.

    Learning Objectives:
The meeting will bring together IA and EHS professionals from industry, consulting, legal, government, public interest groups and more to promote the sharing of good practices and enhance business value in environmental, social and governance assurance throughout their organizations.

  • Divya Visentini, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, NavStella Consulting

    Information and Registration

Customer experience is becoming an increasingly important decision factor in how customers and businesses decide where to buy their products and services. Walker recently released a study stating that by 2020, customer experience will overtake price and product as the key brand differentiator. Customers no longer base their loyalty on price or product. Instead, they stay loyal to companies due to their experience and interaction with the brand. If you cannot keep up with their increasing demands, your customers will leave you.

There are many emerging and enhanced technologies that will impact how we do business in 2020 and the decade that follows. From AI to personalization, chatbots to private messaging apps, 2020 is going to be a defining year in digital growth.

The presentation will focus on key digital marketing & technology trends for 2020 and how they will impact the way companies manage their Customer Experience.

Program: Head & Heart: Integrating Search and Social to Reach Your Consumer
  • Maggie Malek, CEO of MMI Agency

    Information and Registration

We know consumers live in an omnichannel world and as digital marketing experts, we need to create a consistent user experience across search and social through the path to purchase. Search and social platforms provide unparalleled ad targeting and reach options while providing near real-time insights into your consumer. The trick is creating a framework that fosters the best of both worlds to drive ad spend efficiency.

The key to success is to create a continuous feedback loop between search and social. By beginning with what the consumer is searching (keyphrase research) or talking about (social listening), brands can create an integrated strategy across platforms. These ads should drive to consumer-centric content (text and visual), which is further optimized to improve quality score, CTR and bounce rates. Running search and/or social ads against this new content will inspire engagements (clicks, comments, time on site, shares). From analyzing the engagement, we can further refine our targeting, keywords and content which starts the loop over again. While in an ideal situation this process is conducted across both search and social platforms, brands or marketers can use insights from one platform to inform others ensuring both push and pull mediums are in sync.

  • Leveraging search and social data to create a holistic strategy
  • Planning for success with potential KPIs
  • Creating a continuous feedback loop between search and social teams
  • Tips for structuring this integrated approach
  • Examples and case studies of campaigns that have seen improved results through this framework

Little’s Law is an elegant explanation of the relationship between throughput, WIP, and cycle time. In a stable environment it gives us a good understanding of the performance of the system. In this workshop we explore Little’s Law through theory and the experience of simulations. You will come away with a better understanding of Little’s Law and the core assumptions necessary for it to be applicable and useful in forecasting. Through the simulation we will experience why estimation of individual items is often not necessary in an environment where Little’s Law applies.
